The 10th ISHA is postponed to June in 2022
Dear Colleagues,
Considering still unsettled and unpredictable COVID-19 infectious situation and timing of availability of vaccine, the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists (JSA) and the ISHA 2021 organizing committee have been discussing the best way and decided to postpone the 10th International Symposium of History of Anesthesia (ISHA) to June 16th (Thu) – 18th (Sat), 2022.
As long as the virus is in circulation, the meeting in person elevates the risk of getting infected, however, we believe a face-to-face meeting is important for our anesthesia history research. Since gathering safety is the top priority, we have decided to postpone ISHA 2021 for one year.
We would like to apologize to the people who have already made considerable efforts to organize ISHA 2021 activities. We hope everyone will understand the need for rescheduling the meeting.
The principle reasons for the rescheduling are:
1) Major attendees of the ISHA are senior anesthesiologists and are at greater risk of severe disease from COVID-19. We want to ensure the safety of our delegates.
2) Due to the pandemic, the ISHA organizing committee has had difficulty fixing the ISHA 2021 program.
3) The government restrictions on overseas travel is still unpredictable.
ISHA 2022 is now scheduled for June 16th – 18th ,2022. It will be held, as previously planned, in Kobe. The JSA has committed to ongoing financial support for the meeting.
We hope to see you at ISHA 2022 in Kobe and appreciate your understanding in these unusual circumstances.
Respectfully,
Shigeru Saito, M.D.,Ph.D.
